SpinRite 6.01 on a Thinkpad T42

Hi,
I'm trying to run Gibson's Spinrite 6.01 on my Thinkpad T42, but the program gets stuck. It passes the boot phase, the SpinRite startup screen, reruns SpinRite for virus chaecking, annd... nothing happens. The screen blackens and all I see is a blinking light.
What's wrong? Can't ThinkPads be checked by SpinRite?
Do you happen to know?

could be possible that the Active Protection System is causing some sort of issue? really have no idea
