palm pre dropping web connection

I'm using a Palm Pre hotspot to get web connection at work--no other connection available.
The connection keeps dropping after a couple of minutes. A guy I know down the block tested it with his netbook and it worked fine--kept connection. I've read online of other problems with Thinkpads and this device. Anyone know any solutions, suggestions?

Are you using something like MyTether on your Pre? I would first double check you have the right drivers installed and then check out some the Palm forums (precentral.net is a good one). Is this over USB, Bluetooth, or wifi?
