How to install wireless antenna on A31?

#1 Post by Indy452 » Wed Apr 14, 2010 9:49 am

Can I install the antenna from a T40 that is dead into an A31? I'm guessing the wireless card isn't compatible but I assume the antenna is though?

Is there any guides or do I need to just dig in and get it done? Any tips would be great...

Also will the ram from a T40 work in a A31? I believe the ram from the T-40 is pc2700 and the a31 takes pc2100. Will the 2700 run at 2100 speed?

RAM will work just fine, no issues there.

My suggestion, as far as the antenna install goes, would be to find a complete wireless lid from any A3x machine and just install your LCD.

Hope this helps.

I have never done one, but I have seen it done with T30's (I think)
All of the extra was trimmed off the antenna so that it wound up about an inch or so long. They dont really fit in the same location as OEM, so these were tucked behind the silver aluminum shield behind the LCD. They worked OK in my house, but Im running multiple WAPs. They need to as high as possible on the lid.

More likely on a T2x. I have yet to see a T30 with no wireless antenna in the lid.

Possible. I had a set of T30 antennas handy, I compared them to what was left of the antennas installed on the A31p.

I added a 'wireless' antenna to one of my A31p machines. It was pretty simple, just adding a couple of *wires* to the lid.

But the signal strength is not as good as with one of the other built in 'wireless' machines. So the quality of the wireless wire does matter.

And, there is no problem using faster RAM in the A31, as long as it's the right type.
