Can I avoid automatic startup of ThinkVantage Toolbox?
ThinkVantage Toolbox starts automatically whenever I log in. I don't want to uninstall it entirely, because it includes hardware diagnostics that might be useful for troubleshooting. However, I absolutely do not want the spam it decides to send me from time to time.
So is there a way to disable its automatic startup without removing it entirely?

Good suggestion -- I just looked through the startup items and realized I don't know what name to look forFredGarvin wrote:Have you tried MSCONFIG?

Are you sure it's starting with Windows? I have it installed and I don't see it in MSCONFIG. If you're referring to the icon on the taskbar, it's a toolbar. You can get rid of it by deselecting it using the right-click toolbar selector like the Quick Launch or Windows Media Player toolbars.

Aha! That explains it.
It's particularly obnoxious because I have my toolbar on the side rather than on top of my display (because it's a widescreen display), and the toolbar is quite wide (and auto-hides). Under those circumstances, the icon is enormous.

You beauty FredGarvin! It's been annoying me for a couple days now, since Lenovo pushed the update, and I've been trying to get rid of the icon via MSConfig and WinPatrol. I didn't think to check the list of toolbars.FredGarvin wrote:Are you sure it's starting with Windows? I have it installed and I don't see it in MSCONFIG. Thanks.
