Hydis UXGA LCD from Edexdeals.com?

#1 Post by ZaZ » Thu Apr 15, 2010 4:11 pm

A friend asked me to upgrade their T60 to a UXGA LCD. I've been looking for a LCD and I found this one from edexdeals, but my spidey sense is tingling, telling me this is not a genuine Hydis part. I emailed and they said it's it a genuine Hydis screen, but I don't know. It's also listed here on eBay for more money. I was just curious if anyone had anyone had any experience buying from edexdeals? I could go the official route, but that'll be expensive and they don't want to spend that kind of money, but a few hundred is OK. There's one here on eBay, but it's refurbished and they're based in Malaysia, which gives me pause should things not work out. So, basically, if this LCD isn't the right one, anyone know where to get one at a more reasonable rate than through official channels? Thanks for any help.

Yup, the first link is exactly what you want. Model no. HV150UX1-100. $156 is great price for one of the best LCD's manufactured, ever! Can't go wrong.

My question is not whether the part number is correct, but whether it is a genuine Hydis screen. Often the screens you find searching or ebay or google listed under the part number are compatibles, meaning they'll fit and work, but are not the original part. They are also of inferior quality in my experience. See this as an example. The part number HV121WX4-120 is a Hydis matte screen, but it's listed as glossy, which in my opinion means that it's not a Hydis screen, but a compatible. You'll find it searching under the correct part number, even though it is not genuine. That's why I'm asking if anyone's had any experience with Edexdeals.

I understand. I did look at every spec they listed when I answered your original question. I had never heard of that company, but why not ask the question in a forum that specializes in screens. I would also call them and ask them those questions just to get a feel for the people who run the place. Finally, if it's not what you bargained for, you should be able to get a full refund. They're clearly advertising the product as one made by Hydis, so that's what anyone would expect to receive.

If you would like to point one out, I would appreciate it.

Someone I know got a screen for their T60 from "screen aid" and it was not a genuine part, but a generic, "compatible" one.

I'd be very skeptical if someone offered me a brand new Hydis UXGA for $150-160. And I mean very skeptical.

My $0.02 only...

Yeah, that's kind of what I figured. Thanks for confirming it. Yeah, sure, I'd get my money, but why have the aggravation? You can't get something for nothing I guess. Thanks George.

There is nothing wrong with a used IPS panel. The CCF used in newer panels are much better than those first used in A30p. They are rated for ten of thousand of hours life vs just a few thousand hours in the infamous T22 SXGA+ Hitachi that turned pink. Ironically CCF production lines are being shutdown since all new LCD panels today are being introduced with LED backlights.
