Help with keeping dual monitors

I just hooked up my dual monitors with a vga cable. The problem is when I close my t500 and it goes into sleep mode and then open it again it goes back to just my one default monitor and I have to set it up again everytime. I'd like it to switch to my dual monitor setting every time I have a vga cable plugged in. How can I do that?
