Pink lcd T43
I bought a used t43 last month and I'm feeling concerned with a large pink area on the LCD lower right side.
1. When I boot the laptop, the image IBM is there, perfect, without pink color.
2. following this, the image "Windows rebooting", the same, no pink.
3. Arrived to the desktop and using Firefox or Word, the pink area is there;
4. I connected it to an external monitor and the pink area doesn't appear;
5. I made a DOS PC-Doctor on a bootable CD, I run all testes. Everything good.
I'm bad.
Whats wrong with the laptop? Help needed. Thank you.

What happens if you do not start a program and just view the wallpaper on the desktop. No pink? Can you post a picture of the problem?3. Arrived to the desktop and using Firefox or Word, the pink area is there;

Those look to me like screenshots, not pictures taken from the outside with a camera.motacoelho wrote:Really in my desktop computer I don't see any pink on the link also... I'm confused.

Yes. Screenshots. I already upload some fotos
Re: Pink lcd T43
To me, that I have a similar problem on my old T41p LCD, this seems the tipical signs of the aging of the CCFL backlight, dim LCD and a pinkish coloring. You probably don't see the pinkish at the IBM logo and on blue desktop but only when you open a white page because the pink is still slight. Going on with aging the "pink" will be visible even on darker colors.motacoelho wrote:Yes. Screenshots. I already upload some fotos

Re: Pink lcd T43
I see the pink in the corner on the last photos.
I have an old T23 with an sxga+ screen, and the entire screen is evenly, very slightly pink in comparison to other LCD screens. Someone else didn't even notice it, the color difference is small enough. But to me, it is big, after using that computer, another screen looks blue. At first, I didn't like it, but I grew to like it. Maybe it gave my eyes some variety.
With just one part of the screen pink, it could be annoying.
I guess it would be possible to change the ccfl tubes in the lcd from what I have read, but it sounds like a very difficult and long job, probably not worth it.
In a few months of use since I bought that T23, my screen did not seem to change at all.

I have a good working screen that will probably fix your problem.

It's expensive to buy from United States. I'm in Portugal and for this kind of material we are note sure how much we pay for duty douane.
Thank you.

Ashat:
So, can I conclude that the main problem of my T43 is the LCD dieing and it's nothing due to a GPU failure?
Thank you.

Re: Pink lcd T43
yes.. most likely it's the aging LCD problem..

Because the boot-up screen is mostly black, you may do not notice the pinkish color.motacoelho wrote:Ashat:

Try to do the following:
- Send the laptop to standby mode
- Wait 5-10 min. in order to make it cooler
- Resume computer and look at the screen, if you notice the pinkish hue then the problem is an aging LCD back light.
Note:
- Instead of standby, you can turn off the LCD for 5-10 min by using function key Fn-F3.
- If the ambient temperature is low (< 15-20 deg. C), then the pinkish hue will be exaggerated.

Re: Pink lcd T43
I bought on Ebay a very cheap screen removed from a T43 (xga). Now, it's totally different. No pink hue.
Again, Thank you everybody.
