Ongoing Java problem in Windows xp professional

#1 Post by Me2 » Wed Apr 21, 2010 8:14 pm

When I shut off my computer it will beep. Sometimes the error message will show up other times the error message does not show up. The logging off screen comes up and then I hear the beep. The error message is something about the memory cannot be read. I have had this problem on and off since first getting this computer and have read on other forums that it can be a Java issue but on going to the Java website I cannot find anything relevant.

Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer, and see what errors are logged when you shut down. You can Google the error number and sometimes get useful information.

You might want to consider installing the User Profile Hive Cleanup Service from Microsoft. I use it on my XP installation.
