LegendaryKA8: I think your right, would that loose cable cause crashes though?
Also how do I file a warranty claim? My Thinkvantage toolbox has plenty of clear options to buy a warranty upgrade (just paid ~$50 for next business day on site) but i am not sure how I actually go about ordering the service now..... Thanks.

Re: x200 over heating
Hi Guys-
wow, sorry about never responding. I was no longer getting the updates about responses so this slipped my mind.
They ended up changing out my entire motherboard. The invoice actually said "logicboard" but I think lenovo simply had someone else go in to fix it and they stuck with mac terms? Definitely a new motherboard though because I opened it up and I could tell it was different.
This leads me to think it wasn't the CPU overheating but likely poor soldering somewhere?
the computer now runs a bit warm but nothing like before. Disappointingly, it's also not as quiet as before because the fan is almost constantly on at a low speed.
hope this helps!

Re: x200 over heating
My X200 had the same problem. When I play Angry Birds on my X200 attached to its Ultrabase for about 15 minutes, it will dramatically crash and the bottom of the computer will be very hot. I let it cool down and am able to turn the X200 on again.
If I take it off the Ultrabase I can play for about 20 minutes before crashing.
I read the above posts and tried vacuuming the fan. It seemed to be effective - my computer no longer crashes...for now.

Re: x200 over heating
Another success story. My X200 would also get loud and warm more often than before, especially in UltraBase. I popped the keyboard off and gave thorough clean up to the fan, removing the dust from every blade. Then vacuumed everything from both inside as well as outside while using a screwdriver to prevent the fan from rotating. Then put it back together.
Nothing I do now, even playing the occasional games, makes the fan go to the highest speed which was fairly common before the cleaning.
Good stuff. I'm happy.
