fn+F5 wireless switch

#1 Post by matt! » Sun Apr 25, 2010 2:11 pm

As you may know, you can press fn+F5 to toggle wireless and bluetooth via the ThinkPad access dialog.

I recently upgraded my X31 to an official IBM Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG mini pci network card. Since then, wireless is not showing in the dialog, though it is active. I cannot switch of wireless using fn+F5.

Any ideas?

Do I need to upgrade my ThinkPad software in Windows? If so, where can I download the latest version?

(in ubuntu, the toggle hotkey works fine and switches between any combination of bluetooth and wireless on/off)

Thanks,
matt

Hi,

Thanks I will do - I will need to find the downloads first, though! Any help appreciated.

ALL Driver matrix ( check your laptops model and type here)

Thanks.

BIOS is up-to-date

Bizarrely doing a ThinkPad Update says that I have newer versions of some things than it wants to download?

Matt,
Yips , with Windows 7 > the 'System Updater" seems kinda /uncessary' now
I/we have near 1000 newer TPs in use with our business (msotly fullt decked out T&W series), we dont even install 'SYS/UP" and most commonly uninstall everything of TvT and jsut keep two items =" hot key" & "PWR MGR" > rest we uninstall

Hope this helps

Well, reinstaled all drivers and it is the same.

In fact pressing the hotkey with no drivers installed prompts me to update the driver for the wifi card. Though it seems to be the latest one installed

I guess I'll live with it :)

The Access Connection and driver needs to match. The latest driver supporting 2200bg is this one:
6hwv04ww

I would normally use AC version 5.12 with this card.
T60p 2623-DDU/UXGA IPS/ATI V5200
T60 2623-DCU/SXGA+ IPS/ATI X1400
T43p 2668-H8U/UXGA IPS/ATI V3200
R50p 1832-NU1/UXGA IPS/ATI FireGL T2
