New Motherboard Defective?

#1 Post by winslow » Sun Apr 25, 2010 10:51 pm

Put a new motherboard in my G41, when I turn it on all I get is one long beep and two short beeps. The HMM states this as a likely system board, LCD or DIMM. I replaced the DIMM and still get the same symptom. Is there a way to check if it's the LCD/ What are the chances I got a bad motherboard from thinkpadparts.com?

I am having a very similar situation. G41 went dead a couple years ago and would not post anything on screen and made 3 beeps when you turned it on. Ordered a new motherboard and it still did not boot up correctly with a different amount of beeps (4 3 1 4) so I put the old one back in and now it beeps four times. Some people told me to try new RAM sticks or CPU so I may give that a shot. It is very frustrating not even knowing what exactly is wrong with the laptop.
