Rest of the model Numbers...
Rest of the model Numbers...
Hi,
I got my New (To Me) T43. The model number on the bottom (only one) Reads "2669". My question is how or where do you find the rest of the model number...
TIA,
MnR

Boot up, press F1 to go into BIOS.
It's shown on the first page as: System-unit serial number: 2669xxx9912345
where xxx is the missing model, and 9912345 (printed on label as: 99-12345) is the serial number of the laptop.

Re: Rest of the model Numbers...
The model (TYPE) number should appear on the bottom, printed on a thin black and white bar code label right next to the serial number (S/N). The previous owner(s) may have removed it for whatever reason. However, the same TYPE number should also appear in the BIOS menu as the first seven characters of the System-unit serial number field.
To access the BIOS, press and hold the F1 key right after powering the system on, during the time you see the IBM "splash" screen. Once you have finished viewing the BIOS menu, simply press and hold the power button to turn the system off. There are also various software methods you can use to access this same information from Windows using IBM and non-IBM utility programs but looking directly at the BIOS does not require any OS.

Hi,
Thanks for the information. Still learning the ins and outs of the thinkpads... For some unknown reason he took the serial number off the bottom... Oh well, Thanks again.

Hi,
Just a follow up. I have always used Belarc to see all of the information on my hard drive and what the computer has in it. I must be have my SENIOR MOMENTS more often .... LOL!!!
Anyway it also will list all of the Key code for the software on the machine. It is a very handy tool. With this new T43 it came with Win 7 Pro on it. The problem I had was Deciding if I am going to keep it or dump it. I have played with Win 7 since it was released as a beta. But I have never been really thrilled with it.
I have another 40gb Hard drive so I my just clone it to that drive and Put XP Pro on it.
