T43p CD-RW/DVD replacement experience

Just sharing my experience with you folks out there.

My T43p came with a Hitachi GCC-4242N-R4 but of late was popping out on it own and got myself a used Matshita UJDA 745 off craigslist.

The new drive didn't recognize CDs or even burn them. Since I got it for cheap($10) I let it go and got myself another Hitachi which worked perfectly.

Moral: Go in for the Hitachis not the Matshitas..

I know it dosen't make sense making a decision from just 1 drive, but from reading fora and just basic searching Ive found that the Matshitas have issues with reading DVD, CDs etc..
