Value question

#1 Post by Bigdaddychud » Sun May 02, 2010 4:46 pm

So I have been thinking lately of selling my main setup and moving to a desktop only. I have not used my laptop outside the dock in quite a while since I purchased my netbook. So here is what I have and my question is would this be a good value for someone at around $600.00 (usd). The screen is excellent and the keyboard is awesome this setup has given me no problems at all.

Thanks
Robb

Personally, I doubt that you'll get anywhere near $600 for the machine in question, but stranger things have happened...

My $0.02 only...

Good luck.

Why would you want to sell it when you effectively already have a desktop and notebook that serves you power needs. If the netbook as you say has been adequate as your portable, I cant imagine you needed more power than you have already. I recomend steady state which means do noting.

The value of a notebook as a desktop replacement is really the extend of power control. A modern desktop consume an enormous amount of power. Even with much noise suppression, quiet fans installed, it is still a very noisy piece of equipment.

I would never think of going back to a desktop.

So what price would you put on the laptop, dock and monitor?

I have been looking to make some upgrades and thought it may be money better spent in a new system. Wanting a new 7200rpm hdd, 1 more gig of ram, Win 7, new video card in the dock, and a 22"-24" monitor put me close to 500 bucks so just putting out feelers.

Thanks :)

It's not my call to price stuff that doesn't belong to me.

I've given up on that a long time ago...

You asked for an opinion and that's what I've provided in the above post.

Good luck with the sale if you choose to proceed down that path.

For historical prices on equipment, you can either try searching the archives here for a similar setup or query eBay completed auctions (you'll need to be an eBay member to do that).
