Laptop shipment time - Question - how long from China?

#1 Post by arretium » Sun May 02, 2010 9:00 pm

My laptop FINALLY shipped from Lenovo. Only a week late!!!

SHANGHAI, CN 05/02/2010 2:45 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
SHANGHAI, CN 05/01/2010 4:09 A.M. EXPORT SCAN
SHANGHAI, CN 04/30/2010 9:16 A.M. ORIGIN SCAN
CN 04/30/2010 9:04 A.M. BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED

Question: What does this mean? In other words, how long does it take before the laptop arrives in my hot little hands ASSUMING normal (regular cost e.g. free) shipping?

Answers appreciated in advance.

...my ETA is long past... No ship announcement yet. No news at all. :-( But.. it will assuredly get here. It's all about the antici---

---pation.

I'd assume it depends entirely on shipment method. Last time I tracked a new laptop coming straight from the factory in china it only took three or four days.

The shipping product is "World Ease" through UPS. The shipping method is "expedited".'

Here's what I've found:
UPS Worldwide Expedited®

Choose a fast, guaranteed service for less-urgent international shipments
Delivery Commitment Export:

* Delivery in two business days to Canada
* Delivery in two or three business days to Mexico
* Delivery in three or four days to Europe
* Delivery in four or five days to Asia and Latin America

Import:

* Delivery within two business days from Canada
* Delivery within two or three business days from Mexico
* Delivery within four or five business days from Europe, Asia, and Latin America
We know that they are using UPS World Ease expedited service. The World Ease is a form of shipment where a shipper can ship multiple items and have everything clear customs at once.

We know that UPS World Ease expedited service has delivery within four to five business days.
We know that the laptop "shipped" on 5/2/2010, but as of a few hours ago is still in Shanghai.

This means we can expect it to arrive in the U.S. sometime late this week and probably in my hot little hands Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

My experience in Feb. was <= a week from China, which pretty much matches up with your estimate. The rest also depends upon where you're located in the U.S. relative to UPS hubs and major cities.

I order frequently and have found no advantage in speed of delivery by paying for the faster option. I usually receive mine within four days of shipment. The only potential problem which I experienced was my T510 along with other ThinkPads on this pallet were delayed nine days in customs. I called customs, they blamed it on Lenovo. When I called Lenovo they blamed it on customs. Other than that I've had fast service.

Cheers...

Yeah, California delivery would probably be about as quick of delivery to the mainland.

Otoh, who knows about ship time to Maine...
