Hi,
I have a R32 that works without any problems when connected to AC. However, a few months ago, something happened (I was in India at that time - maybe the heat, maybe some uneven voltage) and since then, the laptop does not run anymore without being connected to AC. When the battery is in, the battery sign flashes alternating green/orange and it can not be charged. So the laptop behaves as if there was no battery.
Any idea what that might be? Is this a failure of the battery or rather a blown fuse on the mainboard?
Would it work again with only a battery in the multibay (instead of the CD ROM drive)?
I don't want it to run for hours on battery, I just want it to be save against crashes due to power failures or to carry it from one desk to another without shutting it down and starting it again.
Any help is highly appreciated!

Re: battery issue R32
Buy or borrow the cheapest 'real' IBM battery that you can that holds a charge to test with. if it starts charging then think about buying a more expensive one. Yes it could be a fuse, but a dead battery is much more common.
