I have a very decent T42 Motherboard with the Radeon 64mb GPU. It was reballed by Superior Reball which means the GPU was removed and all the solder balls replaced and reinstalled with the BGA machine. I'd consider it as good as a good used board. I've been testing it for a couple weeks with no problems. I am asking $75 plus shipping. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to pm me.

I might be interested - can this be retrofitted into a T40 shell?

Yes the 14.1 T42 shell and the T40 shell are identical. Of course it will run XGA or SXGA LCDs.
