Differences between T410 and T410s?

#1 Post by marlinspike » Thu May 06, 2010 4:01 pm

I bricked my T60p w/flexview today. I'm debating how to proceed (mobo, X201, T410). Is the only difference between the T410 and the T410s the graphics cards and mandatory solid state HDD on the s? How does the NVIDIA NVS 3100m Graphics 256MB DDR3 with AMT in the T410 compare to the v5200 in my T60p? It seems like a huge price difference between the T410 and the T410s just for a graphics card and solid state hdd.

Do you want a slightly thinner, slightly lighter T410 with less features? T410s
Do you want a heavier machine that lets you do a 9 cell pack with a giant slice pack? T410

The T410s can accommodate a harddrive, you can always ask Lenovo to configure a machine with a harddrive and discrete graphics.

NVS3100m will give you a practical, moderate level of improvement if you do gaming. Otherwise go with integrated graphics, Intel did a great job this time. (Enough to run something like STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl on medium.)

Happily, it looks like you just can't kill a T60. A few hours in the sun and all is well (glass of lemonade spilled on computer, though I had mopped up most of it but when I tilted the computer to get at the keyboard screws a LOT of fluid leaked onto the board).

I would give that a sponge bath with isopropyl alcohol (The 90% type) followed by DISTILLED water before drying that out.

I had done that, plugged it back in, wasn't working. I figured all was lost but figured I'd try the sun anyways. Working now.
