I am not sure if I am posting this in the correct area. If not just let me know. I have had an R61e for around 2 years. I have seemed to have issues with it from day one. I mean most of the time it works and is ok. I guess what I want to know is am I going to have issues with any computer I purchase? Just for reference here are a couple of the other posts as to issues I have had.

Re: R61e
Any computer you purchase may or may not have issues. The truth is nobody knows and you shouldn't worry about it because these kind of things are out of our control. But one thing that you can be assured of is that Lenovo computers typically have low failure rates. Another thing is to see what your computing needs are and see what kind of computer will be best suited to your needs (and that's something that you have control over).

Re: R61e
I'm going to go with a YES on this one. Computers are not perfect, the software is not perfect and nothing lasts forever, especially things that require electricity. If you call required software tweaks and potential hardware failures issues, then definitely, yes.Me2 wrote:...I guess what I want to know is am I going to have issues with any computer I purchase?...
There are many brands far less reliable than ThinkPads, too.
I've had an R61e also for the last two years and it's been used every day by several family members. It's our music/media/skype/DVD & CD burner machine. It simultaneously outputs to the LCD and an LCD TV. It's needed hundreds of software updates, as any machine does, but it's never had any hardware issues. I've even updated the memory, CPU and hard disk without ill effect. It's a solid, fast machine. I'd also call it reliable.
Your best bet for dealing with these issues may be to purchase an extended and on-site warranty. With ThinkPads, you can get up to five years of this type of support.
