In my R51, WinXP Pro is currently loaded. After I finish using Lenovo's updates for various things in my laptop, I'll wipe WinXP Pro by using my MEPIS 8.5 live CD. While I don't think that the wiping will ruin the MBR, I did have a problem with the loss of the MBR a few years ago when I was getting rid of Win98SE and installing MEPIS. Somehow the MBR was lost and I think it had to do with Windows (as I recall). I had to track down on the Net some freeware that would rebuild an MBR.
Do you think this will happen again with the wiping of WinXP Pro? If it does, what good freeware will rebuild the MBR partition?
MBR question
Re: MBR question
GRUB will overwrite the MBR, just choose to use the entire Hard Drive when you install Linux.
