A thinkpad dream come true

#1 Post by fry112 » Fri May 07, 2010 5:57 pm

I often go to my local surplus and check out the deals they have, usually they only have the oldest think-pads like the 600's stuff like that , but today I went and they had a perfect condition t61p... so I ask the guy how much and he tells me that its broken and I wouldn't want it , he said the keyboard is bad. So I asked him again how much is the computer he told me he could let it go for 50 dollars,, so I got the computer home took it apart and cleaned the inside.. so right now I currently own a perfect condition t61p for only 50 dollars this is the best laptop ive ever owned its so fast I JUST GOT DONE PLAYING ASSASSINS CREED 2 ON IT..

I just had to share my joy with you guys ;

Great find...glad you could recycle your T61p and give it a new life. Now I suppose you should check to see if it is still under warranty. :)

Hooray for you! I love hearing stories like this :)

You never know what you'll find while window shopping or venturing out and about. I've come across a couple of things but your story is awesome. Congrats!

Plus it has a warranty until late 2011. Its funny because the deal was because it was supposed to be broken and after working with everything there is not a thing on here that is broken! The keyboard was never broke it was some stupid setting they had in the bios! the only thing that is bad is the battery doesnt even hold more than 3 minutes but we all know battery's arnt that expensive

Wow. I'm really envious. I sure hope the original owner parted with it...intentionally. ;)
