hard drive for t40 thinkpad replacement

Would like to upgrade my t40 laptop with the following hdrive
HDWD2500BEVE 250gb

I usually use clonemax (boot from cd made from iso) to transfer all my stuff, programs for one of my working hdrives (a 60gb) to the new unformatted one which I place in a usb external enclosure to clone the smaller one along w all programs,
drivers etc to the larger one.
The hard drive I want to replace it with is a 250 gb drive. Please look up the specs and see if I will have any issues w this replacement.

There's no problem with that drive upgrade however when you clone you'll want to put the old drive in the enclosure and clone to the new drive installed in the T40.

Thanks for your reply, I always take the laptop w the old drive inside, not connected to the net and then boot from the cd and clone to the new drive in the usb enclosure connected to the laptop (first use ccleaner to clean up before cloning)
Last time cloned a 60 gb to another 60gb or larger one this same method, it only took 16 min to clone, popped it again, booted up perfectly (sometimes you have to activate os again, simply connect to internet.

Sometimes that method works and sometimes not. The method Harryc outlined has a better chance of a successful outcome.
