video drivers for t60 ati x1300

Hello all,

I purchased a copy of windows 7 and installed it on a new hard drive. It runs well and has some interesting features. However the overall sharpness on my Dell 2007 WFP display of text is not as easy on the eyes as XP running Omega drivers. I could only get the Vista ATI driver 8.383.1.1000 to work. Is it the driver making the difference, I presume it is. Omega does not have windows 7 drivers yet be he is working on them. Are there other ATI drivers that might improve the text quality?

There is an ATI driver (8.561) included in W7, but you'll have to pick it up via Windows update. You could try that. Looks good on my 21" LCD (@1600x900) on a docked T60P running an ATI V5200. YMMV.

Hello,

I got 8.561 installed using Windows Update, thanks. However what is bothering me is a reddish shadow I am getting especially on the text in Outlook 2003. My display is a 20.1" Dell 1680X1050 with docked T60. I see it slightly on other text but it is very prevalent in Outlook. Very strange. I do not see it on my XP drive with Omega drivers.

Maybe running ClearType Tuner can help? The red text can be a result of sub-pixel antialiasing set to the wrong setting.
