This is a real mac question I need help

#1 Post by teladoy » Wed May 12, 2010 8:20 pm

I think I fry my early 2008 MBP I have ask at the mac forum but my question is on page 5 after only 16 hours and 0 answer.
I have rely on the technical advise of many of you before I know you are capable and helpful.
Here it goes:
Yesterday was a bad day for me and my MBP with two USB only, haven multiple external I have to buy a USB hub with power it work fine.
I went to work with my 2 R60 and the MBP so I disconnect every connection including the USB Hub.
As my return star putting all cables back, here I made the mistake of using the power adapter from a external hitachi drive in the hub the keyboard was connect and from there to the MBP, when I connected the light of the USB Hub blink that's all, at that moment I realize that I never seen it blink try to power up the MBP but that was it no more booting, later I found out that the keyboard was gone too.
The ironic part of this history is that I was previously leasing to a audio book "Electric Universe The Shocking True Story of Electricity by David Bodanis which I recommend, so I could picture those electrodes running at 100 miles p/s inside the MBP.
Now please if you could comment or help me I will be very appreciated because it has never happen to me before so I have no idea what have gone wrong, of course the mother board or logic board is my useable suspect but I am not sure. The only thing I am sure that it does no boot.
Thank you

Ok, so you've put 5Volts DC or 12Volts DC onto a USB port in a keyboard connected to the Macbook Pro. Describe what you see and hear when you power the Macbook Pro on? Fans? Hard drive noise? Chime? Lights? Have you tried a PRAM and an SMC reset?

Thank you Harryc
No in the external keyboard usb, it was connected:
in reverse MBP > USB Hub >keyboard so it was the hub that was connected to right side USB port.
I have try Option + Command + P + R I think that is PRAM?
Read link and did SMC
Noise either hard drive or fans left bottom.
Start and stop
Lights only the one connected to the power supply green dot.

With no chime on boot you are not getting the logic board to post. My guess is that your logic board has shorted and needs replacement.
