t60 left usb a bit loose
t60 left usb a bit loose
i noticed this a moment ago:
the stand-alone left usb port is just a bit loose. I mean i can move it up and down when i unplug the usb cable. maybe it has always been this way but never noticed this before... its working perfectly. My t60 is 3 years old. is this supposed to bo normal or it will soon become faulty?

Re: t60 left usb a bit loose
no one is able to tell me if it's normal that the left single usb port moves a bit up n down or it is solid and steady in its place?
thanks

Re: t60 left usb a bit loose
I've owned two T60 ThinkPads and neither has exhibited this behaviour. Just use the other two ports.
Re: t60 left usb a bit loose
My was also loose... one day it just happened. But for me when I stress it up, my mouse stopped working... so let's say it was defected.
Thanks to my luck (
) network card stopped working properly and IBM replaced my mobo and everything got back to normal. Dunno if they can do that on guaranty only for a loose USB port.

Re: t60 left usb a bit loose
my one seems to work anyway. In the case it becomes worse and not working... how easy is to solder it back?
im also thinking in the future of replacing it with a t410 NT93FIX because i really like the idea of a bigger (in resolution) display... and i need the wwan card...

Re: t60 left usb a bit loose
If you want higher resolution just swap out the LCD.
Your USB lost its viginity and after so many insertions and probably too much rough play its normal for it to get loose.

On T60's you can replace the USB sub card on the left hand side to fix this. The FRU# is 41W1155. If the entire housing is loose you might be able to tighten it.

Re: t60 left usb a bit loose **PIC WARNING**
Sorry Harry but this sub-card in on the *right* and this thread is about the single USB port on the *left* of a T60.
BTW, your pic seems to be larger than 50KB and as such isn't allowed here...
The left port is soldered to the system board. To resolder it, one would have to take the motherboard (with the magnesium frame) out. Taking the board out of the frame might not be necessary.

The picture in the Maintenance manual (page 105) is reversed.
Re: t60 left usb a bit loose
yes unfortunately the left single usb is located on the main board... it would be great if all the connectors would be put in a secondary board for a fast and cheap fix...
