Ibm t41 Not Charging Staying at 1%- But Shows Solid Orange

#1 Post by rootsDEM » Fri May 14, 2010 1:37 am

t41 battery wont charge, windows says its charging with the Lightning symbol and the ibm thinkpad t41 shows a solid orange light meaning charge right?

Now it wont charge, the laptop works with the battery inside but it sticks at 1% and shows its charging....when i turn off the laptop the Battery light flashes rapidly. When i pull out the battery and try to power on the laptop with just the ac adaptor, the only way to power it on is by holding down function button and f10 and tapping power button.

Please help me out, is this a mainboard or a battery issue. I was thinking maybe its a bad fuse or a dc to dc board gone bad. Or maybe even an simple as a bad ac adaptor?

If you do a search you will find possible casues as Fuses or MOSFETS needing to be repalced. I had a R51 that did the same thing, repalced the Power Controller chip and some mosfets and ultimately gave up on it.
