T61 Failure: Boot Screen Freeze > Power Reset > Not Power On

T61 Failure: Boot Screen Freeze > Power Reset > Not Power On

T61 Failure Incident: Restart > Thinkpad Boot Screen Freeze > Reset > Wont Power On

Equipment:
Thinkpad T61 w Win XP Pro SP3
Thinkpad Adv Mini Dock - 2504 10U
Apple TV
Gateway 30" LCD - XHD 3000

Connection:
T61 > Adv Mini Dock > Dual DVI-D Pass through > Gateway XHD 3000
ATV > HDMI > Gateway XHD 3000

I've used this for quite a bit and can conveniently switch between inputs to the LCD (DVI & HDMI).

Recently, I had not turned off the T61 for quite a bit (24/7 day/ night .torrent downloads) and figured my system felt SLOW.

So, I restarted the T61 and switched over the LCD to my Apple TV.
A bit later I switched to the T61 to see if it had booted up and I saw it

STUCK / FROZEN on the "Thinkpad Logo" Screen where Keyboard / Capslock were not working & neither was the 'Thinkvantage' Blue Button.

So I pressed the Power button on the T61 (kept it pressed) and powerd it off.

My next effort to power it on have met with NO RESPONSE. No power, no charging, No lights on the T61 are coming on with or without the docking station or with / without a power adaptor.

I do have 3 year Warranty coverage. So I will be approaching IBM/Lenovo warranty folks next week.

Until then
- Any ideas / suggestions as to what happened?
- Thoughts as to what I could try to do myself?

THOUGHTS?

Pull the battery. Unplug it. Press the lpower button 5 times, holding it for 10 seconds the last time. Put the battery back in and try again.

Thanks. Trying it out as we speak. PS: What is the "lpower" button? Was the "L" intentional? Or is it just the Power On button?

EDIT:
The closed thing I could find online close to this was

This talks about 10 times.. etc

Methinks your nVidia GPU is on the blink. New mobo is in order.

Did the link thing (which I searched & found only after seeing your advise)
10 presses at 1 second intervals.
30 second press and hold.

God Bless you and the blog poster. Thanks :)
