r40 battery

#1 Post by mccreedy » Sun May 16, 2010 1:31 pm

I recently installed a new battery in my r40 2681. It's an extended life, 8 cell from Denaq. It fully charges but when the the power meter is at around 79% that's it, game over. Is their a compatibility issue with the battery. It takes about an hour to deplete it's charge, while it shows 79% charge. That's how long my old standard battery lasted. Has anyone ever experienced this? Is there something I have to adjust in the bios or something? I haven't got a clue. Please help.

Did you load the battery for 12 hrs. while the R40 is turned off?
What informations do you get in the BatteryMaximizer about
- load capacity
- actual load
- designed capacity?

Did you calibrate the battery (battery maintenance)?
If you get no changes you've got a poor battery.

Yes, I charged the battery powered down for 12 hours. The power meter says 100% charge, but the total time remaining fluctuates between 6:30 to 1:50 hours remaining. Battery maintenance? I have drained the battery and fully charged, if that's what your referring to. The battery was designed for extended life, up to 8 hours.
