Loose battery

#1 Post by Marvout » Wed May 19, 2010 2:05 pm

I've just moved from a T41/S10e to a X60t. I was really impressed with how solid these other machines have felt. I'm quite dissapointed how floppy the 8 cell is hanging off the back of my X60t. It has a very 'is it falling apart' feel to it. It is an aftermarket battery, so that may account for a bit, but there is a significant amount of play. Is there a common way to fix this?

Aftermarket batteries tend not to fit right. I've seen them so loose that the latches won't hold or so tight that they will not fit unless you work on them with a Dremmel or a razor knife. The "fix" is to buy genuine batteries.

Turns out my used tablet is actually broken. There is a tiny little lip center bottom of laptop that the battery is supposed to latch into. That lip is broken. The very center of the battery has a small pocket that the lip is supposed to hang on. Really quite incredible to expect that to hold anything at all. I padded the gap on the battery around the hinge with a bit of rubber matting. Turns out it is nice and tight now.
