Anyone ever own or seen a Dothan ULV TP?

#1 Post by eyestrain » Fri May 21, 2010 11:01 pm

According to http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:X40 and http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Intel_Pen ... 8Dothan%29
a few versions of X40 and X41t came with Pentium M Dothan ULV chips. That's Pentium M Ultra Low Loltage with 2M cache 90nm: the Intel Pentium M 733 or 753.

Has anyone ever seen a Thinkpad with one of those chips?

I ask because:

I've been looking for an X40 with an Intel 733 for several months, and in that time, have only seen one on ebay, and also only one X41t with a 753.

Here's the X40 I saw:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... ry=2386APU

I bought it, paying extra for a Dothan ULV.

But it does not have a 733 Dothan as shown on the IBM site above! It has the slower 713 Banias, 130nm, with only 1M cache, much higher TDP, and if I remember correctly, higher wattage ratings for several sleep and halt states, according to Intel's design paper. (ask if you want a link, I got from wayback machine)

713, 1MB cache, .130nm is confirmed by Z-Cpu, Memtest86+, Windows Control Panel, and NHC. TYPE 2386-APU is on the X40's sticker, and on the bios screen.

Anyone with similar experiences?

Anyone with Dothan ULV Thinkpad experience?

Any explanations why I seem to have a 713 instead of a 733?

I've been looking for the same thing without success. I do have a 1.0Ghz ULV Banias. Which is very nice. Also have a Dothan X40 but not a ULV.

The X40 line up is much wider and a lot more interesting than X41.
