Black electrical tape in battery slot on T410: To remove it?

#1 Post by bootsector » Sun May 23, 2010 2:42 pm

Hi there!

I just bought this T410 model:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003AA ... ss_product

It came with a black electrical tape inside the battery slot that looks like should be removed before first laptop use. There's not mention of it on the manual or the quick start guide. I even tried to force the tape removal, but it didn't come out easily, so I gave up.

My question is: what is this tape for? Should I remove it or leave it as is?

Thanks a lot!

Leave it, there is nothing to be removed there. There's what looks like tape sticking out in the battery compartment, but that is a tab to remove the WWAN sim card.

Thanks for the quick response, Harryc! :)

Should I be worried about having tried to force the removal of the tape? Do you think that something may be damaged? Any flat cable got loose or something like that?

It would be a real shame to damage a beauty like this just because a "electrical tape removal trial" :P

Thanks!

There's nothing there to damage. Enjoy your new laptop and stop being so paranoid ;).
