Just ordered my L635 - How long can I expect to wait?

Hi guys. I'm brand new to the forums and have never had a Thinkpad before. I've always yearned for one ever since I was very young (and am glad the design remains the same) so I finally took the plunge and bought the x100e to replace my poky Acer Atom-based netbook. After finding a 10% off coupon (USPLENOVODEALS2) the total damage after taxes came to $492 for a Turion Dual core, 1GB RAM and a 250GB HD.

I didn't realize Lenovo took so long to ship their computers, as I have an estimated ship date of 6/4. Now, I don't mind this, so long as I get my computer by the 14th. But I'm starting to get worried as I'm seeing tons of horror stories of people waiting literally months for their laptop to ship from Lenovo. Does anyone know at this point how long I can realistically expect to wait? My order just says "In Process." And has since I placed the order last night.

The good news is most ship before the date, but if for some reason a part you want is out of stock, you'll wait. I don't know there's much you can do about it. You could probably get a pre-configured machine, but that'll likely cost more.

I just bought my L625 (added Bluetooth and 4GB RAM) on 14-May on the US website. Estimated shipping date was 27-May. It shipped out on 21-May.

Your configuration looks like the preconfigured "Elite" model on the web store (unless you've also added options) so it may ship even quicker.

Yeah, I just went with the pre-config'ed "Elite." I figured I was getting a killer deal and I'd just add more RAM later. Thanks for all the advice. I'm kind of stressing because I have a weeklong trip out of state in about three weeks and school starts in a little over a month. Since I'm selling my current laptop to pay for it, being delayed more than two and a half weeks would kill me.

My L625 took about a week to ship. I got it about two weeks ago. It wasn't one of the pre-configured systems.

I'm eagerly waiting for my order too, I ordered on May 20th and they gave me an estimated ship date of June 2nd, I hope it actually leaves the warehouse this week and arrive in Seattle sometime next week. I was lucky enough to order the Elite configuration in the last day of that 20% off coupon, plus BCB the final total is around $409 include tax.

I called Lenovo today just to confirm the estimate ship date, they said there is no delay on parts for the configuration I chose and it should ship out at or before the estimate date. OP, I'll update when mine is shipped, I think if mine did on time then yours will follow right behind it.

That's great, because I live in Seattle too (Renton). I just missed the promotion by two days, but at least I got 10% off. I called customer service and they weren't very helpful. The first time, the rep said it was waiting on credit card authorization and to call back the next day. I called back today and she said, almost robotically in her accent "Yes this is in stock do not worry." She kept saying, "Do not worry," which of course made me a bit more worried.

BTW, in my order confirmation it says "CONFIGURED SYSTEM." Can I assume that means it's a preconfig so it should ship faster, right? I'm getting really psyched about this computer. I went to Frys to play with them but the Trackpoints were torn out and the OS was locked down super tight. Digging the keyboard, leery about the screen, though.

I'm not sure about the configured system name, mine says "3508CT CONFIGURED SYSTEM" too even though I added BT module. I don't think you should worry since there is no reported shortage of Midnight Black X100e right now. I also checked out the two machines Renton Fry's had and both units took quite a beating over the few months they were on display. One of them is way hotter than the other, despite having the same CPU and running the same demo.

One of them also seemed to have a better screen than the other too. Honestly, it's impossible to judge screen quality in that store. Those huge mercury-vapor lights wash everything out and make all the screens look miserable. I'm kind of bummed because I was really eager to try out this generation's Trackpoint. Oh well.

Mine says 3508CT CONFIGURED SYSTEM as well, and I didn't add anything. I got one of those tiny USB bluetooth nubs from eBay ($3 after shipping) and it works great.

Alright, I just got ship confirmation today, about three business days ahead of the estimate date. So I guess if yours is not shipped out today, it'll go out next Monday.

I ordered mine May 9, was given an estimated ship date of 5/19.
it shipped on the 13th (Thu) from Shanghai, and arrived on the 20th (UPS actually got it to the right place too)

Mine had its export scan at Shanghai customs today (May 30th), and estimated to be delivered on Thursday. I hope you receive your shipping confirmation tomorrow.
