T60 hangs on W7 warmboot

#1 Post by derdoenermann » Fri May 28, 2010 7:14 pm

When I restart my T60 (2007FUG & Windows7 Ultimate) the computer hangs at the Windows splashscreen showing "Starting Windows" and the four colored balls, which stop right before they have to become the Windows logo.
I think the problem is caused by the Intel Matrix Storage thing, that has been installed by System Update automatically... my Seagate Momentus 7200.4 320GB runs in AHCI-Mode. Neither uninstalling the Intel Matrix Storage nor uninstalling the driver via Device Manager solved my problem.
The Windows boot logs don't show up anything about this issue.

Any similar experiences?

Boot to the safe mode (F-8 during startup if you can) and try doing a system restore to a date when the T60 was working. If you cannot get Windows 7 to do the Startup repair you will need to reinstall Windows 7.

Did you try putting the SATA controller in compatibility mode?

System restore does not work for me because Windows deleted too many restore points... In fact this phenomenon does only appear sometimes when I reboot the system and shutting it down for several seconds (with battery and powercord attached) make it disappear. This is my third W7 installation that has this problem...
Compatibility mode works, but I cannot understand why AHCI does not work. I will need AHCI soon because I am going to put a SSD in the Ultrabay which is supporting the TRIM command and this requiers AHCI.

Thank you for your answers
