Hitachi or Seagate HDD?
I'm interested in the x201 but haven't been able to get feedback on which HDD is being used. Figure if there has been a change from the Hitachi's to the Seagate HDDs its also being done for the T series. Have read some instances where T410 owners have Seagates. Is this prevalant for more recent T's puchased? What do you have? I love Hitachi drives as far as low heat, no noise and most of all reliability. Leery of Seagate due too too many stories read. Uneccessary concern? A HDD is something where a warranty doesn't even come into play. Do not want to have to use it! Thanks.

Re: Hitachi or Seagate HDD?
I have 500 GB Hitachi and Seagate drives. They both run fine. My X200s has the Hitachi and I am very happy with it.

As I suspected. I'm thinking due to a shortage maybe, Seagate is not used instead of Hitachi. I really dont wnat a Seagate product. lol.

I highly recommend against all Seagate products short of their enterprise lines.
Hitachi's mobile drives as of now as what my T410 was provided with (7k500, 320GB version) I recommend.
I also recommend the WD Scorpio Black

Re: Hitachi or Seagate HDD?
I agree with you but it seems T410's and x201's and X100e's are now shipping with Seagate HDDs. This is a recent change it seems. I'm hoping its temporary due to shortages. As far as I can remember, TPs shipped with Hitachi's.Navck wrote:I highly recommend against all Seagate products short of their enterprise lines.

Just read the retail reviews: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a ... 6822148374 These are not written by your average Joe as far as knowing what they are talking about. lol.http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Momentus- ... ewpoints=1

They're actually written by the +1 of the average Joe. Some people who actually are engineers might refer to them as "morons spewing things told to them by other morons."
I would tell you from an engineer PoV that Seagate's drives frankly suck except their Enterprise products. I don't care what the "tech savvy John" will tell you, they're not any better than the average Joe for suckering their selves with benchmark placeboss.

Braddah, I agree with you that I am leery of Seagate.
BTW, you have a lot of anger and resentment it seems not only toward specific manufacturers but also people. Hang loose Braddah. It's only a computer.

(If the part number helps by asking the rep on the phone to build you a T410 with a Hitachi drive.)

Re: Hitachi or Seagate HDD?
Isnt the part number generic? I mean ie 500GB 7200RPM can be fufilled by any manufacturer. No different than getting any one of 3 different manufacturers keyboards. Not sure the rep can control this even if they want to.

Re: Hitachi or Seagate HDD?
I believe they use a specific part number for a specific model of harddrive but they might just consider it a generic 320GB/7.2k RPM HDD. Check with the rep if they have different models of 320GB/7.2k HDDs.

Re: Hitachi or Seagate HDD?
SATA hard disk drive, 500 GB, 7,200 rpm
Based on the manuals it can be one of these two for the 3249CT
Part No from Manual
45N7257
Or
45N7277
From the order sheet, seems to be generic:
Order List 60Y7835
Do you know which above is the Hitachi?

Re: Hitachi or Seagate HDD?
You'd have to ask Lenovo that, I have the 320GB 7.2k Hitachi.
