R61 lost wireless controller? "SOLVED"

#1 Post by Reo51St » Tue Jun 01, 2010 9:59 am

Recently I ran recovery disks on a R61 (7735-Y1D) and then realized that I had not run the supplementary disk.

The install went well all devices where there but I decided to do it again with the supplementary disk.

After doing it with the supplementary disk I lost the wireless controller.

Device manager does not even see the wireless card.

Any ideas?

Thanks all.

The first thing to check is to see if the wireless radio is on. FN-F5 keys ...

It tells me “No supported wireless devices.”

In BIOS it is turned on.

The front switch is turned on.

In device manager under network devices it only shows 1394 and 82566MM.

Have tried known good WM3945BG.

What is a 'WM3945BG" ? Do you mean that you tried a new Intel Pro Wireless 3945abg mPCI card also?

Decided to go threw every setting in the BIOS!!!

In Config under “Network” Wireless LAN Radio is On.

In Security under “I/O Port Access” found Wireless LAN was Disabled.

Enabled it and what do you know the system found it on the next boot.

How it got set to Disabled I have no idea?

Just thought I would let everyone know.

Thanks
