Installed a atheros N card, now what?

#1 Post by jp0213x » Tue Jun 01, 2010 4:27 pm

I installed a atheros N card a few days ago, everything works fine, except I don't have a third antenna installed. Is the third antenna necessarily needed to use the card in N mode? I plan on getting another screen for my T60, should I just add the antenna when do a screen swap?

3rd antenna is important for 3R/2T cards. I placed my 3rd antenna about midway on the left vertical edge. I didn't even completely remove the LCD bezel, just lifted the lower left corner enough to place the antenna and route the wire. It was a very small antenna made by Foxconn.

I got my antennae on eBay. At the time, most were made by Hitachi Cable and Foxconn.

Do you have any instructions on how to install it?

The post doesn't really give good info on how to install the 3rd antenna.

I would also be very interested in
a) how to install an antenna,
b) where to get one / what they are supposed to look like
c) recommendations for a good WLAN card (I assume Atheros is the way to go, but which models in particular) that are not too expensive (ebay).

I just got my T60 and I would like to make use of my N-Router.

Thanks in advance!
