I recently came across a post-leasing T60p, it is in a god shape, but some idiot put supervisor pass on - and forgot to unset it on sale. The seller had to reduce price due to that - and I got interested.
So the solution is to either replace motherboard or erase password. If I swap motherboard I will be badly interested in keeping original LAN MAC and UUID - cause the laptop was sold with the cardboard box with all S/N, UUID and mac stickers on it - and I intend to resell it as the original "factory state" unit (which it except for password is).
I did some research on password issues.
The Chinese are offering this:
there's also that Romanian guy:
A long time ago I had CRC (0175) error on my T42 - it came out of the blue, confusingly - not every reboot the CRC eror appeared at all. The tech support said later the chip was malfunctioning, they dumped eeprom and re-flashed the chip again (no soldering/chip replacement). The problem did not occur any more (5 years now). I never was told what technique/hardware they used to do it - now I would like to play on my own.
