LF: iPad in New Orleans

#1 Post by Jagoop » Mon Jun 07, 2010 5:30 pm

I'm an European on a short business trip to New Orleans. While here, I would like to purchase an iPad (preferably an 16GB/wifi model) - unfortunately Apple seems unable to sell me one, as their stores have 5-10 business days delay.

Does anyone have an iPad for sale (and ready for quick shipment)?
-or-
Does anyone know of a place in New Orleans that actually has any iPads in stock?

PS
the iPad is not a substitute for my ThinkPad - that would be close to sacrilege

I don't know if they have any in stock, but Best Buy sells the iPad. I saw one there a few weeks ago. Might be worth a few calls to see if they've got it in stock.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've just visited the only Best Buy in the area that www.bestbuy.com listed as having iPads in stock - unfortunately the store didn't have any :(

Does anyone have another suggestion? 8)

Welcome to my hometown! :D

I'm assuming you went to the Best Buy on the Westbank which seems to be the only one supposedly with iPads in stock. Did you try going to the Apple store at the Lakeside Shopping Center? Try to call them up.

Try local Craigslist. It maybe slightly used but it will also be cheaper than retail prices. Brand new ones also pop up from time to time.

But I predict that you will be using the iPad more often than your Thinkpads. The instant on, light weight, excellent touchscreen and long battery life make the iPad far more convenient than any laptop. I was at first skeptical of the iPad but after playing with one at Best Buy, I realized it's a great product.
