Lost Post?

#1 Post by Sand » Fri Mar 04, 2005 10:53 am

Hello,I asked some questions about desktops and have not seen it posted; I just hope I didn't send it to the wrong group. Is there a quick way of checking this out; if not, I will have to try to remember all what I asked, and repost. . I can't understand what I did; I was sure I hit 'submit'.

I know I can't blame it on my new laptop, but it is a little unfamiliar to me yet.

Sorry for the bother, and thank you very much for opening this new forum. I appreciate it.

Not a good start,
Sand

Hi Sand

I saw a post of yours about help in selecting desktop from many available series. It is posted in the "etcetera" forum.

I think a personal message to any of the moderators will get the post moved to this forum....

I do no thave much experience with IBM desktops, so I cannot be of much help to you, but based on your requirements, I'll give it a shot...

From what I understand, you need a desktop for word processing and browsing the internet. A Celeron processor would be good enough for this. Also, I am assuing that you have plenty of space for a desktop. I would suggest that you look for a desktop from other vendors, like Dell, because they have cheaper products than IBM, which targets mainly business users (read PRICEY) for their desktop line. If you want to buy from only IBM, then my suggestion would be this:

http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/store ... logId=-840

Add another 256 MB of RAM to the existing to make a total of 512MB RAM. Regarding the monitors, you have to decide based on your constraints. LCD monitors occupy less space than CRTs but are more expensive. If you have an older desktop, you need not worry about the keyboard, mouse and the monitor for the new one. If you do not have an old desktop, you have the choice of buying the same from IBM or from various other vendors.

HTH :)
