I'm curious, because, I love Linux and Mandriva in particular but if there isn't proper graphics support I probably wont load it on to this ThinkPad.

You should address issues with Linux pertaining to new tech computers with the Linux community. There you can get assistance of Linux masters who range from engineers to accomplished programmers, highly skilled users, etc
