600E USB port problem

#1 Post by bhanscom » Fri Mar 04, 2005 12:23 pm

I recently trashed my USB drivers somehow. Here's what I did. Many months ago I had installed drivers for a flash drive, a 4 port hub, a scanner, a printer, a pen input device, and a CD burner. All seemed to play happily together. Last week I tried to install another flash drive (lost the first one) but it would not install. I bought an 80G usb hard drive - no luck there either. I tried uninstalling the past devices. Still no luck. Upon looking at the Device Manager I see the / ! \ symbol next to USB Root Hub. I tried to reinstall the drivers but I get the blue screen of death when it reads from catalog3 on the CD (exception 0E at 0028:C026B3D1 IN VXD NTKERN(06) + 000005E1.

Any thoughts how I can fix this short of reformat? I need to get a ton of data off this HD before I can wipe it and since nothing works with the USB I am in big trouble. I thought maybe I could use the Direct Connect method but that also fails (see other post).
