tried to backup drive - getting harddrive error - need help?

#1 Post by jasvid » Sun Jun 13, 2010 11:17 am

Hi,

I own a 18 month old T400. I use the Seagate Free Agent Go to backup my harddrive by plugging it into the USB port and allowing it to backup my harddrive. It has worked well like this for over 6 months. I have always plugged it into the USB at the back right of the keyboard.

Today I went to back up my harddrive and plugged the Seagate Free Agent to the Front left USB drive. I plugged it in and walked away as it usually works automatically.

I returned to find the computer at a startup screen with ERROR 2100:HDDO initialization error (2) - press ESC to continue

I press escape and it goes to screen that says "cannot boot from any device" Also on screen:

Current boot order and device status:
1: USB FDD: > Device not found
2: ATAPI CDO : Model Optiarc DVD RW AD-7910S > No Valid Operating System
3: USB CD > Device not found
4: ATA HDDO > Device Error
5: PCI LAN: Model IBA GE Slot 00C8 v1324 > no valid operating system
6: USB HDD > Device not found
7: ATA HDD!: >Device not found

Excluded from boot order:
ATA HDD2
ATAPI CD1

No problems with this before today. It doesn't even seem like the harddrive is turning on upon startup. Any help with this issue?

Thanks,
Jason
