Added 512 of ram to T30 - BIOS won't pick it up

#1 Post by canflyboy » Fri Jun 11, 2010 10:11 pm

I removed a 512 SO-DIMM from a dead T42 that I had and added it to the extra space on my T30 hoping to go from 256 mB of ram to 768.

When I check to see of it accepted the added ram in the BIOS, it still only shows that my memory is 256mB. What gives??

One possibility is that your T30 has a problem with the solder connections on that slot. The other possibility is that the module is defective.

Try the 512MB instead of the 256MB in the same slot.
If it now works, most likely the second slot (near the front of the T30) needs resoldering.
