T60p - external display recognized but has no signal

#1 Post by tomekkos » Tue Jun 15, 2010 1:26 am

Hello

I've an external display (Dell 2209WA) connected to my T60p.It was all ok until yesterday. External display is not working any more.
I tried to remove and install ATI drivers again, play with Presentation Director, look for BIOS settings changes but with no luck.
Presentation Director works ok, desktop is being extended when Dell is connected (but obviously I can see nothing on it), and when it is disconnected - presentation director says that cannot extend the desktop because there is no exernal monitor connected.
Display seems to be recognized by OS (XP), because when I fire up Ati Catalyst Center it shows that it has two displays connected: the Thinkpad one and external - Dell 2209WA. When I disconnect the external one, ACC shows only Thinkpad one. After connecting it again (or switching on my laptop) there is a short LED status change on Dell and then it turns into the Power Saving mode.
One more think is that this Dell works ok with my wife's T40p.

Have you ever had similar problems? What should I do? I'm afraid that this can be motherboard issue and it's replacement can be only solution for me. I need an external display and having dock station with dvi is not the best solution for me.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

What happens if you boot into the bios with the external display attached? When trying, pust Fn + F7 to toggle between displays

Hi all,

Same problem here. Have been using my external monitor happily for the past 3 years. A few days ago, I tried to use Presentation view on my Powerpoint 2007, which required fiddling around with the display settings and extending my monitor, something I had not done before.

After that, i couldn't get my external monitor or projector to work again. I have reinstalled the Presentation Director, and dependent software. The ATI can detect, but the external monitor has no image. I have played with my display settings, refresh rate etc. but no avail.

One thing I found curious was that previously fn-F7 will toggle and show an on-screen two green icons of LCD and external , but after I fiddled with the settings, it no longer does, and with the new install of presentation director, it also doesn't.

Can anyone help me please? I can't output to projectors either, which is essential for making presentations.

Thanks. Booting into Bios with external display attached also no use.

Tomekk, did you have any luck resolving your problem? Tks. I've tried re-installing, changing settings etc. but no luck.
