How to uninstall Rescue and Recovery 3.0 after HDD upgrade?

Recently I upgraded my T60 HDD. I cloned the old HDD to the new HDD using Apricorn software. Anyway, I want to upgrade my Rescue and Recovery utility to 4.21 as my laptop is currently running 3.0 and I can't get the "create recovery media" function to work right. Every time I try to click on the "create recovery media" button in the start menu, I immediately get a "program has encountered a problem and needs to close" error.

Anyway, on the lenovo site, it says that to install 4.21, I have to uninstall 3.0 first. Problem is that when I try to go to add or remove programs to uninstall it, it won't let me. I get an error message that says the "the installed product does not match the installation source. until a matching source is provided or the installed product and source are synchronized, this action cannot be performed". Underneath that there is a drop down menu that will allow me to browse for another file path.


I have no idea what the R&R file name or path is so I can't just type it in there or browse for it. Even then I have no idea if locating it would actually fix my problem.

Is there any fix for this? I just want to get R&R to work properly again and upgrade to the new version so I can make a set of recovery CDs.

I had run into this problem before while playing with older factory recovery CDs with XP. I managed to fix it by:
Uninstall rnr4
Install rnr3 from C:\SWTOOLS
Uninstall rnr3
Install rnr4

The experience was so bad that I swore off rnr for good. IIRC, the rnr4 installation also upgrades the utility partition to rnr4 and loses the ability to perform factory restore.

I was able to get rid of R&R 3 using Revo Uninstaller, and I got R&R 4 installed now. Can I still use R&R 4 to make a bootable backup of the partition?

If you aren't using R&R 4 what are you using to backup the partition?

I did not use RNR4 in depth. It should work in its intended role as backup and restore software.

I use Windows Home Server.
