RAID controller present on all W701/510 models?

Do all new W models come with a hardware RAID controller? Is it present even if initially ordered with only 1 drive such that at a later time, a second drive can be added for a RAID configuration of one's choice?

I asked Lenovo phone orders but they weren't able to provide an answer to anything beyond well publicised specs.

I purchased a W510 ... came without raid option, I asked lenovo to swap the system board to one with raid and they did.

all W70x models include hardware RAID.   it's optional on the W510 and requires a different chipset to support it.

That's confirmed. My shipment came in. A single drive W701 does indeed come with a hardware RAID controller, Intel ICH8M-E/ICH9M-E/5 Series SATA RAID Controller to be precise, according to Device Manager.
