(very) Small Problem With R40 Keyboard

#1 Post by hunterman223 » Tue Jun 22, 2010 11:13 pm

Hi,
Hopefully someone with an R40 can help me out here. When I first got the R40 as-is off of ebay, only about 3 keys on the keyboard worked. After many hours of frustration, I figured out there was a bad connection on the ribbon cable to the keyboard. I simply flipped around the little support plate thing and it works great. Before I figured that out, I dismantled the enter key and messed it all up. Now when I press it in a certain way, the thing pops up and off the keyboard. Sewhat I meant by very small problem? :D Can someone with an R40 tell me or post a picture of how everything pops together? Thanks in advance.

Check out the pictures on this eBay post: http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-Thinkpad-R-R40- ... 0415582224
Maybe they help in orientating them properly?

Thanks, but I took off the shift key to look at how that one goes on, and it looks like I weakened the plastic pieces that snap on to the hinge when I pulled off the enter key. So I will probably be looking for a replacement.
