opinion on this T60

#1 Post by kge420 » Wed Jun 23, 2010 7:12 am

This is my first post here. I have been reading for quite a while though. I currently own a T40 which other than the USB 1.1 issue is running fine.
My question is: Do any of you have an opinion on this offering from eBay?

Keith, T60's are very reasonable on the used market these days and I think you can do better than that one. Are you set on a 14" machine and what is your budget?. I think someone on the forum can find a better machine/deal for you. With that EBay deal you'll end up investing another $100 just to get it running, and that does not include a battery if one is needed. You can also place an WTB add in our marketplace forum. You'll be much better off if you buy from a member here.

Harryc, thanks for the advice. I am partial to a 14" screen. The T40 I am using is running fine and I'm just trying to get a feel for what a decent T60 will cost when I'm ready to upgrade. Also not too worried about a little sweat equity.
Thanks again, Keith

A 14" T60 in nice condition with no defects and completely intact will run anywhere from $275 to $350.

Harryc, are there any common issues the T60 has that I should be aware of prior to committing to this particular model? ie: the T40 gpu issue

There's nothing like the GPU issue with the T60, though nothing in life is risk free. The T60 is a better machine in most ways.

Agree with FredGarvin, it's one of the more reliable Thinkpads I've ever owned.
