black screen after installing fglrx on linux

i just recently installed opensuse 11.2 on my t60p.
added the ati repository, then installed the fglrx-desktop driver
i did an aticonfig --initial then restart.

now the lcd screen is black whatever i do, but external monitor works ok

has the lcd somehow fried?

little update:
nothing recognizes the LCD display, tried everest, both win xp display properties and catalyst control center see only the externally attacked display
