Hey guys a quick A31/A31p RAM question.......

#1 Post by smw6230 » Wed Jun 23, 2010 3:18 pm

Can I put two stic's of PC2 4200 in a A31/31p?

2gb limits should be ok as that is max on the A3X's. I think the A3x line is supposed to use 2700 but wouldn't the 4200 automatically downclock to 266 MHz?

If so then I should be ok, right?

Quick answer... no. PC2-xxxx (i.e., DDR2) will not fit inside the A31p. It requires just DDR (sometimes called DDR1) modules. And yes, installing 'faster' modules will downclock to the PC2100 timing (266Mhz).
